'95 Honda Civic w/930,000 Miles for Sale PDF Print E-mail

There's high mileage, and then there's this. A 1995 Honda Civic is for sale in Atlanta with, count 'em, 939,899 miles. That's 200+ miles a day. Every day. Including Sundays. For 12 years. It even has a Carfax report from when the car had 907,000 miles on it. According to the seller, the car runs like new, with no leaks, no noises, no oil burning, and not even a scratch on the body. In fact, the only blemish listed is that one of the dashboard lights doesn't work, and that's only sometimes.

The car is on its ninth timing belt, ninth water pump, and fourth clutch. But the engine and transmission are original, as are the floor mats. The car even comes with records. The most incredible thing isn't the mileage, though. It's how the owner put the miles on the car: driving on business trips from Atlanta... to Seattle... and San Francisco. We want to know what kind of business -- or what kind of boss -- makes a guy drive across the country and back, and then some, every single month for 12 straight years.

To paraphrase The Proclaimers, if you buy this car then you can drive a million miles and you can drive a million more...

2008 Honda Civic Hybrid PDF Print E-mail

Based on the technologically-advanced Civic Sedan, the ultra-efficient Honda Civic Hybrid includes Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology to achieve an EPA-estimated city/highway rating of 40/45 miles per gallon - the highest of any 2008 Honda automotive product.

A sweeping roofline and a sleek windshield angle convey an advanced, one-motion profile with a low and wide stance. The interior focuses on sophisticated styling with a two-tier instrument panel, comfortable seating and accommodating storage areas with room for mobile phones, MP3 music players, compact discs and more. The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with voice activation is available.

"The Civic Hybrid pioneered the introduction of gasoline-electric technology into mainstream vehicles," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "Now in its second generation, the Civic Hybrid continues to prove that the fun-to-drive, accommodating nature of the regular Civic translates well into an advanced technology vehicle."

A 1.3-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine and a 20 horsepower electric motor produce a combined 110-horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 123 lb-ft. torque @ 1000-2500 rpm. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) certifies the Civic Hybrid as an Advanced-Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) - the best-possible emissions rating for a hybrid vehicle. The IMA hybrid system uses a gasoline engine as the primary source of power and the electric motor provides both additional power and electricity regeneration capability. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) smoothly optimizes transmission ratios for optimal fuel efficiency.

Natural Gas-Powered 2008 Honda Civic GX PDF Print E-mail

Based on the technologically-advanced Honda Civic Sedan, the Honda Civic GX runs on ultra-clean, domestically-available natural gas and produces near zero emissions.

The Civic GX is the only vehicle certified by the EPA to meet both Federal Tier 2-Bin 2 and Inherently Low Emission Vehicle (ILEV) zero evaporative emission certification standards, earning the distinction of, "Cleanest internal combustion vehicle in the world." Consumers in California and New York, and fleet customers nationwide, can purchase the Civic GX through qualified Honda dealers.

For 2008, an auxiliary audio input jack has been added to the audio system and a new color is available, Nighthawk Black Pearl.

Natural gas, an inherently clean-burning fuel, produces 75 percent fewer smog forming pollutants (oxides of nitrogen) compared to the output of a conventional gasoline engine. As of 2007, natural gas is approximately 30 percent less expensive than gasoline when purchased at a refueling station, and can be more than 50 percent less expensive than gasoline when supplied by a home refueling appliance.

"The Civic GX brings the environmental and numerous other advantages of natural gas to one of America's most popular vehicles," said Gunnar Lindstrom, alternative fuels vehicle senior manager of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The availability of home refueling adds the potential to make using an alternative fuel vehicle even more convenient than gasoline."
